Applications open for H M Hubbard International Law Scholarship
The H M Hubbard International Law Scholarship awards up to £28,000 to postgraduate law students, trainee and qualified solicitors, who wish to study law in Canada, France or Spain.
Applications for the 2019/20 academic year are now open.
The scholarship is renowned for providing the perfect opportunity for those pursuing a career in law, to further their education whilst experiencing different cultures and countries.
Its most famous recipient is Walter Merricks, who is now Chair of IMPRESS, the Independent Monitor for the Press, and the law reform charity JUSTICE. Mr Merricks credits his career in law to the scholarship stating it was, “entirely sparked by a period abroad as a Hubbard scholar”.
The scholarship is awarded annually to postgraduate law students, trainee and qualified solicitors in England and Wales*. It covers fees, living expenses and travel expenses. Recent scholars have been granted up £28,000.
Nick Turner, Chairman of the Trustees for the H M Hubbard Trust, said: “All of our scholars praise the Hubbard Law Scholarship for giving them the chance to further their academic studies and their careers. However, it is often the opportunity to live in and experience another country for which they are even more grateful.
Living in another country allows our scholars to mature and grow more confident both personally and professionally. My co-trustees and I are delighted to offer this opportunity again in 2018. It will no doubt have a profound impact on another young lawyer’s life and career.”
Prospective applicants can apply online at www.hubbardlawscholarship.com. The deadline for applications is 30th November 2018. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview in London on 14th December 2018.
